Where long run works, and where it does not
Long run is the most common roof in New Zealand for good reason. The sheets run unbroken from ridge to gutter, so there are no horizontal laps to leak, and a well-installed long run roof will outlast most of what sits under it.
Below about three degrees of pitch it is the wrong product. Water does not clear fast enough, it ponds in the pans, and it finds the laps and the fixings. On a flat or low-pitch roof, a membrane system is the correct answer and we will tell you so.
Coating matters more in Auckland than most people realise. Much of the region sits in a severe or very severe coastal exposure zone, and the wrong coating, or the wrong fastener against the right sheet, will cut decades off the roof. We specify to the exposure at your actual address.

Is long run right for my flat roof?
Almost certainly not. Under about 3 degrees of pitch long run will pond and leak. That is what membrane is for, and membrane is the work we do most of.
Which coating should I use near the coast?
It depends how close and how exposed. We check the corrosion zone for your address and specify the coating and fasteners to match, because mixing the wrong fastener with the right sheet causes failures on its own.
