Why shingles
Shingles give a roof a depth and texture that profiled metal cannot. They handle complex roof shapes, dormers, hips and valleys far more gracefully, because each shingle is small enough to work around the geometry instead of fighting it.
They are quiet in heavy rain, which anyone who has lived under long run will appreciate, and they carry manufacturer warranties measured in decades.
Harvinder holds an LBP licence for asphalt shingle installation. That matters more than it sounds, because almost everything that goes wrong with a shingle roof happens at the flashings and the ventilation rather than out in the field.
Speed and disruption
Most residential reroofs are three to five days on site. We completed a 180m² shingle reroof in three.
We only strip what we can re-lay the same day, so the house is watertight every night and you are never sleeping under building paper. Site is cleaned at the end of each day, and we sweep for nails before we leave.

Asphalt Shingle Roofing questions
How long do shingles last in Auckland?
Modern architectural asphalt shingles carry manufacturer warranties of 30 years and up, and in Auckland conditions that is realistic provided the roof space is ventilated and the flashings were done properly. Ventilation is the variable most installers skip.
Can shingles go over my existing roof?
We strip back to the substrate so the deck can be inspected and the underlay laid properly. Overlaying hides problems, adds weight the structure was not designed for, and gives you a lumpy finish.
Shingles vs long run?
Long run is cheaper up front and fine on a simple, well-pitched roof. Shingles cost more, look considerably better on a complex roof, and are much quieter in rain. On a roof with dormers, hips and valleys, shingles also avoid the flashing-heavy detailing that long run needs.
What pitch do I need?
Asphalt shingles want a minimum of about 15 degrees. Below that we would be recommending a membrane system instead, and we will tell you so rather than sell you the wrong roof.
